Miami Beach residents must check tide tables when it rains

Storm of June 5, 2009
Saturday, June 6, 2009:  The storm that caused extensive flooding throughout Miami Beach was one of the most intense in recent memory. City teams immediately responded by assessing damage and addressing over 20 areas in the city that were plagued by major flooding. Crews began unclogging storm water catch basins and vacuuming standing water with trucks. Before sunrise on Saturday, major flooding was cleared. Crews will continue to work throughout the weekend to clean-up debris and storm water catch basins.

FPL is reporting that as of 12:30 p.m. today, 920 addresses are still without power. FPL plans to restore all power by 6:00 p.m. tonight.
There is more rain expected throughout the weekend. As a safety precaution, please stay away from downed power lines and standing water.
